Evidence-based therapy and counseling.
My name is Will Vitale, and I’m glad you’ve found your way here. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Seattle, Washington who works with young adults, teens, children and families. I help clients manage and overcome anxiety, stress, depression, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, trauma, and behavioral and attention challenges.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe that personal connection is the most important ingredient in successful therapy. Healing and personal growth are most likely in the context of supportive relationships, and I facilitate this in my practice through empathy, trust, and acceptance. I also strive to balance acceptance with change. When clients have expressed the need or desire to make changes, I will help analyze what has made change difficult in the past and assist clients in taking effective actions in the direction of their goals. I tailor counseling interventions to the needs of each individual client, and therapy may look different based on a client’s age and target issues. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with stress-reduction and mindfulness practices, skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Lifespan Integration.
My Background
I have been working with youth for the last 14 years in educational, recreation, and mental health settings. I earned a Master’s in Applied Child & Adolescent Psychology from University of Washington, and completed an internship as a child and family therapist at Youth Eastside Services where I provided agency, school-based, and online mental health counseling to youth and their families. I also hold a Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s program in neuroscience, child development, and learning.
